Meet SLV Pet Care's owner/operator, Julie Reisinger!
Originally from Arizona, Julie moved to Colorado in 2008 to attend vet tech school in Denver. She graduated in 2010 with an AAS in Veterinary Technology, and began working in biomedical research at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam at the end of 2010, qualifying her to become a credentialed veterinary technician.
While at CU, Julie also obtained further certifications, the highest being Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATg), showing her dedication to advancing her knowledge about all species of animals.
In the summer of 2019, Julie relocated to the San Luis Valley with her husband, Mike, and their two dogs Dolly (Standard Poodle, now deceased) and Dave (Giant Schnauzer, 8). While visiting the valley, she noticed that there were not a lot of pet service options, especially for dogs and other animals that could not be boarded. It was then that Julie decided she would use her vet tech and animal background to move her pet sitting and dog walking experiences from hobby to professional business, and SLV Pet Care was born!
In addition to her vet tech training and work at CU, Julie has also worked or volunteered in kennels, pet stores, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, grooming salons, and a pet nutrition company. With over 20 years of experience in the pet/vet industries, she has done almost everything! In early 2024, Julie graduated from the Good Dog Academy, receiving her Professional Dog Trainer Certificate, and adding dog training services to her repertoire!
In her spare time, Julie also creates art inspired by her own pets as well as her clients. Click here to check it out!
