Beginning Tuesday, June 1st, SLV Pet Care’s office hours will be from 9:00am-6:00pm Tuesday-Saturday. If you have reached us outside of these hours, rest assured that we will return your call or message the next business day. If you have an urgent request, please use our Contact form or email us at slvpetcare@gmail.com.
We are currently working on creating a “Frequently Asked Questions” page for our website. Until that is complete, here are answers to some of the questions we get asked the most:
Pet Sitting Services:
Do you board animals/can I drop my dog off for daycare?
No, we do not board animals or have a daycare facility; SLV Pet Care provides services in the client’s home. There are a few boarding and daycare facilities in the valley, including All-4-Paws in Alamosa, Noah’s Arff in Monte Vista, and Pet Getaway Daycare in Monte Vista.
I’m visiting from out of town; can you watch my dog in my hotel room/campsite?
At this time, we do not offer services at campgrounds or hotels/motels, however, we encourage you to check out our Dog Walks/Adventures page to see if one of these options will work for you, or email us at slvpetcare@gmail.com to discuss your dog’s care. Proof of current vaccinations are required for all walks/adventures.
What is included with pet sitting services?
All pet sitting services include feeding, watering, and playing with/exercising your pet; for those with cats, litter box scooping/clean up is also included. Our pet sitting prices include all household pets, within reason. A large number of household pets or pets with special needs may result in extra charges; all charges will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties before the reservation is booked. Livestock care is not included with pet sitting prices, and varies based on care requirements. Basic house sitting services (checking the mail, putting out trash, watering plants, alternating lights/curtains) are included with all pet sitting services.
Booking Questions:
Can I book services outside of the office hours?
Yes, you may book services for any day of the week, based on our availability. Our office hours are for answering client inquiries, meeting with prospective clients, and performing administrative duties.
What if I have an emergency and need to book a pet sitter outside of office hours?
We understand that emergencies can happen at any time; if you need to reach us after/outside of our office hours, please email us at slvpetcare@gmail.com or by using our Contact form, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Do you have an Availability Calendar that I can see online?
No, we do not have a publicly available calendar online at this time. The best way to check availability for services is to contact us directly via phone, text, email, or through our website. When sending your inquiry, please include the dates you have in mind, as well as what services you are looking for (drop-in pet sitting, overnight pet sitting, livestock care, etc.).
Can I book services online?
If you are a current client of SLV Pet Care, yes, you can request bookings for all of our services online through our member portal (details were included in the Spring 2021 client newsletter). Current clients are any clients that have booked and completed services with us within the last year. If you are not a current client, please request a Meet and Greet - it’s free and required before we accept any reservations.
How far in advance can I book services?
While we try to accommodate last minute requests from our clients, overnight pet sitting is our most popular service, so advance booking is highly recommended. If you’re a planner (like us), you can book as far in advance as you would like! Please keep in mind that deposits are required for pet sitting reservations of 5 or more nights, and are due within seven (7) days of booking.
I have a pit bull/Staffordshire terrier/other restricted breed - can I still book with you?
At SLV Pet Care, we do not believe in breed discrimination, and we absolutely LOVE bully breeds! Our Meet and Greets (required for all clients, regardless of the breed/species) will allow us to meet with you and your pet, and serves a few purposes: to make sure all parties (including your pets!) are comfortable with each other, to answer/ask questions about the pets/services, and go over pricing/contracts. Occasionally, we may ask to meet with you and your pets a few times before booking - this is usually in the case of extremely shy/anxious pets, or with guarding breeds, who may just need more reassurance that we are not a threat. All pets in our care must be current on vaccinations, and we reserve the right to refuse services for any animal that may endanger our sitters/walkers, regardless of their breed/species.
